Trauma manifests in many forms and underlying symptoms in body
At Traditional Roots Healthcare, we understand that trauma and distress come in many forms and shows up in the body as a variety of symptoms, such as insomnia, hypertension, frequent headaches, irritability/depression/anxiety, fatigue or even issues with digestion.
Everyone holds stress differently, and when you've been through traumatic situations, even those in years past, the body and mind have compartmentalized those traumas and over time those can manifest as symptoms of disease and often lowers the quality of life for those experiencing it.
Acupuncture is effective at not only taking people out of "fight or flight" (sympathetic brain pathways) to "rest and relax" (para-sympathetic brain pathways), but can also help with more systemic issues such as sleep, digestion, anxiety/stress, and pain. For a full list of what acupuncture is recommended for, go to our FAQ page, where we have a full list of what the World Health Organization has listed for acupuncture.
We invite everyone that could be affected by trauma and distress to utilize acupuncture as a primary option for trauma informed care.
Our Clinic Partners
Our community-specific approach allows us to provide acupuncture treatments onsite through our clinic partnerships. This allows us to create healing spaces that are safe and approachable, offering culturally specific trauma informed care. Often the symptoms we address are associated with PTSD, mental health and chronic stress/trauma. When available, we also include other holistic practices such as Qi Gong, healthy living classes, food therapy and herbal remedies for self care.
We are thrilled to be working jointly with the following partners:
At Wilder's Center For Social Healing we treat refugees from Southeast Asian communities (Vietnamese, Cambodian, Hmong and Karen) and have begun offering onsite stress reduction treatments for Wilder employees.
At People Incorporated Mental Health Services, we treat individuals affected by mental illness in residential treatment centers as well as community support programs, and see people from all walks of life. .
At The Center for Victims of Torture we treat individuals who are survivors of torture and work in collaboration to fulfill the mission an values to rebuild lives by providing healing services and to restores hope so survivors can once again live healthy, productive and peaceful lives.
